Nvidia's Stock Hits the Stratosphere, Powered by AI Chip Sales!

Several months ago I wrote about investing in AI-powered businesses who were at the forefront of it all. Nvidia was #1 on my list because well, without their specific hardware, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation today. That’s why the stock has soared over 100% in 2023. Doubling your money in less than 6 months? Not a bad pick. I just wish I would have pumped more money into them than I did.

So here's the scoop, Nvidia's flying high, expecting sales of about $11 billion this quarter, which is over half more than what Wall Street's bean counters were guessing. This tech titan has shot up 109% in 2023, mostly because folks are buzzing about their boss role in the AI chip market. CEO Jensen Huang is grinning ear to ear, claiming "surging demand" for their data center products. But it ain't all roses, their gaming division hit a bit of a rough patch, with a 38% drop in revenue. They're blaming it on a sluggish economy and the roll-out of their newest gaming GPUs. Despite this hiccup, their self-driving car tech sales have more than doubled, but it's still a small part of their biz. Overall, their net income was $2.04 billion, down 13% from last year.

Here's the quick and dirty rundown of the major players in the AI game and why they're worth keeping an eye on:

Nvidia (NVDA): This company's the kingpin of AI chips and its stock prices are soaring to the moon. Plus, they're showing promising future growth which should keep them on the up and up.

Microsoft (MSFT): This old dog's got some new tricks, leveraging its stake in OpenAI and forming stronger bonds with Nvidia. It's also diving head-first into AI, squaring up against Google in the battle for internet search and office productivity tools.

Amazon (AMZN): The big daddy of e-commerce, Amazon's looking to add AI search to its online store. And let's not forget, they've been using AI for years to customize their offerings and recommend products to website visitors. Always ahead of the game.

Alphabet (GOOGL): Google's parent company is going all-in on AI. They're planning to infuse it into search, maps, Workspace, photos, cloud computing, you name it. They've even got a marketing strategy cooked up around AI.

Meta (META): The artist formerly known as Facebook is entering the AI scene with a bang, flaunting its new AI Research Supercluster that uses chips from Nvidia. The company's making big moves into AI infrastructure and plans to build custom AI chips for its data centers.

Salesforce (CRM): They've jumped onto the AI bandwagon and rolled out Einstein GPT, which adds OpenAI's features across its software platform. They're no strangers to AI and have been using predictive tools since 2016.

Adobe (ADBE): Not wanting to be left out, Adobe has just launched new generative AI services for creative professionals and marketers. They're aiming to lead the charge in AI creativity.

IBM: Despite some bumps in the road, IBM's still investing in AI and buying up companies to boost their prowess. They've got big plans for a rebound with Watson Code Assistant.

Accenture (ACN): This IT services firm is bullish on AI, consistently snapping up AI startups and integrating the tech into their services.

Remember, these companies are not a guaranteed home run. As they say, don't put all your eggs in one basket. It's all about balancing your investment portfolio. AI's the hot topic now, but who knows what the future holds!

Meet 'Tako': TikTok's Innovative AI Chatbot Poised to Transform the Way We Use the App

TikTok is diving into the AI scene with their latest invention - an AI chatbot named 'Tako'. This little bot is currently on trial in certain locations, preparing to answer your questions from the corner of your TikTok screen.

Just above your profile on TikTok? That's Tako's new hangout. It's there to answer all those complex questions about the videos you're watching. For instance, if you're checking out King Charles' coronation and wondering about its significance, Tako's got your back.

Tako doesn’t stop at answering questions. It's also your personal recommendation engine. Can't get enough of funny pet videos? Tako will supply you with a never-ending stream of fluffy amusement.

The public testing of Tako was first spotted by app intelligence firm Watchful.ai, and TikTok has since confirmed it. They're keen on pushing boundaries and enhancing your experience, making it easier for you to find your next favorite video.

To all the young users out there, don't worry, Tako won't appear on minors’ accounts. As for the origins of Tako, it comes from a mysterious third-party AI provider that TikTok has tailored to suit their needs. And in case you were wondering, Tako isn’t the go-to for medical, legal, or financial advice. It's all about entertainment here.

Of course, there are concerns, like privacy. Sure, AI chats are being recorded for quality purposes, but the extent of data logging isn't crystal clear. Fortunately, you can wipe out your chats just like on Snapchat.

The big idea behind integrating an AI chatbot in TikTok? Tako could turn out to be your ultimate guide for discovering content. If all goes well with TikTok's new experiment, Tako might even pose a challenge to Google.

This is early days for Tako. TikTok has just shared some information on their Twitter, and we're still dissecting the details. So, hold on tight and watch this AI journey unfold.

Shared Links: The New, Slick Way to Share Your ChatGPT Convos!

Unveiling a shiny new toy from OpenAI – Shared Links. It’s your ticket out of screenshot purgatory, letting you easily share your oh-so-engaging ChatGPT conversations via unique URLs. Keep in mind, this fancy feature is currently available only on chat.openai.com, so iOS users need to keep their pants on for a bit.

Key Takeaways:

- Generate a unique URL for a conversation to share with others.

- Once created, the link is a static snapshot of your conversation - it won’t include any future messages added after the link is created.

- Deleting the original chat also sends the Shared Link into digital oblivion.

- Links are public; anyone with the link can peek into the conversation.

- These Shared Links won’t pop up in Google or any other search engine results.

- You can’t limit who views or continues the conversation from your link, so be mindful of the content you share.

- Your name won’t be attached to the link unless you decide to add it.

- You can report any inappropriate content you come across in Shared Links.

- Shared Links feature isn’t on the iOS app yet, but we hear it's coming soon!

📚 RESEARCH 📚

The research paper titled "BLIP-Diffusion: Pre-trained Subject Representation for Controllable Text-to-Image Generation and Editing" introduces a new model for generating images based on text prompts. The model, called BLIP-Diffusion, uses a pre-trained subject representation to create images that are more accurate and controllable. The authors argue that existing models struggle with maintaining the subject's fidelity and require extensive fine-tuning. BLIP-Diffusion addresses these issues by using a pre-trained multimodal encoder to provide subject representation. This allows the model to generate images in a zero-shot or few-shot setting, making it more efficient and flexible.

Key takeaways from the paper:

BLIP-Diffusion is a new model for generating images based on text prompts, using a pre-trained subject representation for better accuracy and control.

The model overcomes the limitations of existing models, which struggle with maintaining subject fidelity and require extensive fine-tuning.

The pre-trained multimodal encoder in BLIP-Diffusion provides subject representation, allowing for efficient and flexible image generation.

The model can generate images in a zero-shot or few-shot setting, making it more efficient and flexible.

The authors demonstrate that BLIP-Diffusion can be combined with existing techniques to enable novel subject-driven generation and editing applications.
