Chatbot Diagnoses Alzheimer's with 80% Accuracy

A recent study from Drexel University's School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems showed that ChatGPT can pick up on language impairment clues like hesitation and word mix-ups and use them to predict Alzheimer's with 80% accuracy.

Can you imagine? A simple chatbot, just sitting there listening to you ramble on, could end up being the key to early detection of this awful disease.

It's all part of a bigger trend in the AI world - using natural language processing programs to try and spot early signs of neurological disorders. And it makes sense since 60-80% of dementia patients have some form of language impairment. But ChatGPT, or GPT-3, is special because of its deep learning algorithm, which has been fed an endless amount of information from the internet, giving it a unique understanding of how language works.

So, next time you're talking to a chatbot and you feel like it's not listening, just remember, it might be taking notes for a very important cause. Dive deeper into the researchĀ HERE

The Future of AI is Here: Scientists discover new brain-inspired chip technology

Scientists are working on memristors, which are like little brain-inspired switches that can remember what they were doing when they were turned off. Basically, they're trying to create a chip that's like a mini-brain. Can you imagine the possibilities? Autonomous vehicles that are actually smart, medical scans that can be analyzed in seconds, and all with a fraction of the energy that current chips use.

But, as with all new technology, there are a few kinks to work out. The production yields aren't great and the performance is a bit hit or miss. But fear not, researchers in Israel and China have found a way to fabricate these memristors using a standard CMOS production line. This means they can produce a lot more of them and they'll work a whole lot better.

In addition, these scientists have found a way to make them simpler to use, smaller in size, and even more energy-efficient. They've also found a way to make them work with binary inputs and outputs, meaning they don't need those energy-sucking converters.

But that's not all. Another team of researchers is exploring using memristors for a technique called Bayesian reasoning. Basically, it's a way to make sense of uncertain choices using prior knowledge. It's like having a mini-expert inside your chip. And the best part is, the results are totally explainable.

So there you have it folks, the future of AI is looking brighter than ever. These scientists are working on a chip that's smart, energy-efficient, and easy to understand. Who knows, maybe one day our cars will be driving themselves and diagnosing our illnesses all thanks to these little brain-inspired switches. Learn more HERE.
