OpenAI, the creators of GPT3 and ChatGPT, are also investing in several innovative companies. One of which is Descript, which I use on a regular basis and have been using for well over a year. But, I wanted to provide you guys with a list of companies they have openly announced investments in.

Descript is a powerful video editor reshaping the way creators engage with content by using AI to make video editing as simple as editing a text document. Descript released Storyboard, a new framework for making a video that’s as intuitive as making a slideshow.

Harvey is developing an intuitive interface for all legal workflows through powerful generative language models. Its technology expands a lawyer’s capabilities by leveraging AI to make tedious tasks such as research, drafting, analysis, and communication easier and more efficient. This saves lawyers time, ultimately allowing them to deliver a higher quality service to more clients.

Mem is building the world’s first self-organizing workspace. Starting with personal notes, Mem uses advanced AI to organize, make sense of, and predict which information will be most relevant to a user at any given moment or in any given context. Mem’s mission is to build products that inspire humans to create more, think better, and spend less time searching and organizing.

Mem recently lifted the waitlist for its flagship product Mem X.

Speak is on a mission to help more people become fluent in new languages, starting with English. The company initially launched in East Asia with a focus on South Korea, and has nearly 100,000 paying subscribers. Speak is creating an AI tutor that can have open-ended conversations with learners on any number of topics, providing real-time feedback on pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and more.

Alphabet Inc Loses a Cool $100 Billion After Chatbot's Oopsie and Dull Event

Looks like Alphabet Inc (AKA Google's parent company) had a pretty rough day on Wednesday, losing a whopping $100 billion in market value.

Why you ask? Well, the culprit was none other than their new chatbot who shared some inaccurate info in a promotional video. And to make matters worse, the company event that followed was a snooze-fest, feeding worries that Alphabet is falling behind rival Microsoft.

Shares of the tech giant took a nosedive during regular trading, dropping as much as 9% and with volumes three times the average. But, lucky for them, they were able to recover a bit after hours and ended up being roughly flat.

Last year, Alphabet saw a 40% drop in stock value but had been rallying 15% since then. Looks like this latest blunder may set them back a bit.

Alphabet had a rough Wednesday, with a chatbot's inaccuracies and a dull event leading to a $100 billion loss in market value. Whoops!
