My Thoughts on How ChatGPT Will Monetize
ChatGPT will be ad-free but there will be a paid version for early access to updates and testing, faster processing, and higher search limits.
This is my theory based on everything I’ve read and pieced together. Their business model to survive without ads?
Hear me out.
Anyone can build using their GPT-3 language model and create the software solution of their dreams.
They charge by tokens. Which I’ll save for a different conversation. Some are as cheap as fractions of a penny and image generators up to 2c per image.
This is ridiculously cheap and gives a blueprint for anyone to scale quickly assuming the prices don’t fluctuate too wildly.
I recently heard someone say they built ChatGPT because no one else did. In 2020, or at least when I first heard about GPT-3, ChatGPT, is what OpenAi, the creators, thought developers would build. While there has been some incredible software built using GPT-3, none of them genuinely garnered mainstream attention because they only solved niche problems.
I’ve been using GPT-3 products for so long that I’ve been through 3 name changes within one, now a billion-dollar company. ChatGPT practically made that company useless, but I feel they will survive just fine.
Now that they’ve garnered global attention, there will be an explosion of AI products over the next 2-3 years. Many will make billions and many will go bust, but all of them will have massive funding behind them as VCs make wild bets because if 1-2 pop off, the other 10 don’t matter as much.
Guess what else happens? They get billions of search queries a month from subscribers of other software companies who in return pay them per token or image generated.
It’s an absolute genius model if that’s what they are genuinely doing. It’s also a way to keep this resource ad-free and free for everyone to use.
UPDATES - Deal Bell - POPN
You ever have a conversation with someone you just met that you knew would result in some big things? Ever since I've started sharing my journey with AI, and talking about the tools I'm finding and my ideas around it, I've had so many fantastic conversations. I'm being invited on podcasts, and people are messaging me saying thank you, and encouraging me, it's an incredible feeling and it's the first time I felt like I can genuinely contribute something of value outside of the real estate industry.
Today I spoke with someone from a GPT-3 powered software solution company. I won't give It away just yet, but we have similar goals when it comes to getting AI-powered solutions to serve businesses and they are interested in potentially lending some resources to help me get Deal Bell's AI systems up to speed quicker than I and my team can. I shared with them today a little bit about my vision and the current stage of the development and we have a follow-up call on Monday.
Just trust me when I say this, no matter how the conversation goes, I'm about to deliver some cool software to agents and investors that everyone will be racing to copy, and with their help, or an injection of capital we will roll out products much sooner than later and it is mutually beneficial for everyone. It keeps my costs lower so I can deliver an affordable resource. It gets these tools I've had in my head for two years into the hands of people who can benefit greatly. It also allows me to generate more capital for what I'm dubbing, the future of the internet that I plan to build and operate within. What's the future of the internet you ask? Without getting too deep, It's permission-based marketing. I am currently calling it POPN, the People Over Profits Networks. I currently have my UI/UX being built and the entire launch strategy mapped out. I plan to launch a waiting list for early beta access in March with a full press release and statement. While, I can't share everything just yet, just know I am truly working to revolutionize the internet and how marketing is done forever.
I am going to need people and more resources but that will be solved with several angel investors. If you're interested just know it's going to take 5-10 million to get off the ground with no guarantees that it will work but a promise that I'll assemble the best damn people on the planet that share the vision. This is not going to be an easy undertaking. It will be at least two years before we are profitable. I don't know why I would want to punish myself like this but I've waited for two years for someone else to build this and now I am taking matters into my own hands.
Lastly, if you've got some skills that you think would be useful for POPN, we hope to be making our first hires in late Q2. Specifically, we are looking for experience in Data Science, Algorithms, CTO, COO, Token Systems, Ad Networks, Product Management, Community Management, and Marketing. The one drawback is we'd prefer you move to the Beach. I know, terrible right? Reply to this message if this sounds promising to you and if you share the vision of creating a more fair and equitable internet for all.
